I finished not one, not two, but three baby quilt tops! This last one was the most involved!! I need to add the words to Old MacDonald and then it will be ready for quilting! The wind didn't corporate for an outside picture so we went inside. I added t pictures of the other two tops as well.
I put the last seam in the top just after midnight, so I guess it can count as a Friday finish! Linking up with Finish it up Friday for the first time!!

Free Motion Quilting
This table topper was my first complete project with free motion quilting. I gave it to my grandma for her birthday. She told me she was proud of me. The star was a practice block for a interlocking quilt pattern.

Completed Top
Dresden Plates
I was back and forth between machine appliqué and hand appliqué. I know how I want it quilted so I was worried about the top stitching from doing it by machine but I ultimately decided to go with machine appliqué. I am glad I did, it is so much faster and I really like the top stitching.
Lesson Learned:
Leave the block flat while pinning it to prevent extra fabric from gathering behind the plate.

Making Progress
I have thought about making a pillow case for over a year. I finally tackled it today... it wasn't nearly as hard as I imagined it would be! This one is for my Quilt of Valor.

Yellow Brick Road
This is a top that I started over 8 years ago... I finally completed it! I am planning to quilt it with wavy lines using my walking foot. The cats that joined the photo shoot must have known it was a cat quilt!

Quilt of Valor
I finally finished this top! It was a challenge to make it bigger with the fabric I originally purchased but I was able to do it! I did have to buy a little bit of blue for the backing.

Glorified (or Improved) Nine Patch
I have always wanted to try this block but I was hesitate to try curved piecing. I used the curved template from: http://www.patternsfromhistory.com/colonial_revival/hannas_quilt.htm These are pictures of my process.

Belated Farmers Market Pictures
Despite the heat, we had a really good day at the market. It has caused me to rethink stopping for the summer...

Are You My Momma
The babies are growing! Millie has been coming in for extra treats these days!
They have their eyes open now!
Another momma cat has moved in and takes care of the kittens with Millie. This cat did not have any surviving kittens, so I guess she thought she would help out!
Have you ever seen such?

One Week Old
Millie's babies are now one week old! Despite our best efforts, one kitten didn't survive the first night so the litter is down to five. Millie is a wonderful momma cat and they are growing!

Sewing Lesson: Binder Cover
I gave Heidi a sewing lesson today since she has had a sewing machine for a while that she hasn't used. She made a binder cover that turned out awesome! She did a great job and I think the sewing/quilting bug has bitten again! I think I will add this project to my To Do list! We had an adventure filled day complete with helping a lost dog find his way home.
Millie Has Kittens
Millie finally had her babies- six babies to be exact! Of the six babies, five are calico which means they are females. The other kitten appears to be a grey tabby. I will keep y'all updated as they grow!

Easter Baking
This year I made cinnamon buns for our church breakfast after the sunrise service. I made bird's nest cupcakes, jello eggs, and coconut pies for our family gatherings. I didn't get a picture of the finished eggs but I guess I wasn't allowed to fill them as a kid since I still can't do it without making a mess! This was the first time I made cupcakes from scratch! They were lemon cupcakes topped with cream cheese icing then a birds nest!

Happy Pi Day!
One of my friends at work talked me into making pies to celebrate Pi Day. It didn't require much arm twisting before I was in on the fun. I made a coconut pie and mini strawberry pies. She made a peanut butter pie and a grasshopper pie. They were all delicious!! I took some pictures of the process of the mine pies. Enjoy!
